2010 Petite Sirah
60 cases produced.
Here is a truly rare wine, just a few barrels worth of inky black, old vine Petite Sirah. How old you ask? The farmer who sold me the grapes was in his eighties, and he told me that he and his mother were both born on the ranch, and the grapes predated them all. The vines were probably about 130 years old at time of picking. He also told me that the aliens are real, because he’s seen them, and they have a secret base in the middle of the sea, just like the Bible says. In that moment, I knew the wine would be awesome!
Dry farmed in a gravel fan on the north side of Dunaweal Lane, south of Calistoga in beautiful Napa Valley. This block has since been ripped out, and we have the only remaining vintage! Aged 3 years in 100% French oak. This is a very rich and nuanced wine, evolving and showing more and more complexity over the course of the evening. This wine is a stunner, and when it’s gone, it’s really gone. Production limited to 60 cases.
